I have been a Network Engineer for 30 years and although I have enjoyed a successful career, I always felt that there was something else which I just knew would keep me motivated ’till the twilight of my life.
After a while though, and as I’ve gotten closer to retirement age, I wanted to accelerate my income to much higher levels than what I could make as a Network Engineer, so in ’98 I ventured into the world of internet marketing.
Internet marketing seemed like it would work out well because the start-up costs are low and it didn’t seem like it really took any special skills to succeed.
Boy, was I wrong!
I now understand why 97% of internet marketers fail. Man, it is hard, and it makes you feel about 2 inches tall most of the time. Dealing with the creation of blogs, landing pages, squeeze pages, auto-responders, newsletters etc., etc., etc., is very painful to say the least!
When I started out, I figured that all I had to do was to purchase a great eBook from a well know Guru, and I would be set for life because apparently they were all making a ton of money following the same steps they would teach me in their eBook. But, when I did the things they told me to do, NOTHING seemed to work.
So, I started buying other eBooks, and automation tools which I just knew would finally help me make it happen.
So what do you think happened?
Well after about a year and a half, my motivation had faded and was almost nonexistent, and my bank account was facing a slow death too. I literally was spending about twice as much as I was bringing in. I felt like I was on a hamster wheel – running around and around but going nowhere.
After about 18 months of dismal results, for some reason I found the motivation to give it one last shot. I began to do some deep soul searching about what I was really trying to accomplish and how I was going about it.
Late one night I was online searching for answers and I stumbled across a few sites which turn my life around. Each and everyone of these sites offered free reports; very much like the eBooks I had previously spend hard earned money on, yet turn out to be just crap. I was very skeptical at first but because the information was free, I decided to sign up for their report.
The first report I signed up to was about Social Network Marketing. A brief yet interesting report covering how anyone person could make money with Social Networks like Facebook, and Twitter.
The second report talked about something I had never heard off before; CPA Marketing. I must confessed that at first I though they were talking about marketing for accountants. But I was totally wrong as CPA in this case stood for Cost Per Action. You have probably seen some of these ads in TV. The ones that offer you a free trial of some product just by going to their website and or making a phone call.
The third report I got was about Creating an Email List. The mantra was “The Money Is In The List.” Well in no time at all I learned what they meant by this as I started to receive emails offering one product and then another and another until their sequence of email had exhausted itself, but then latter another related sequence of emails promoting another type of product begun, and this continued until I decided to opt-out of their list.
But I did learn the lesson & CPA Profits was Born
You have to find a product that sell well. This is simple to do and I will share this with you. Then you have to drive traffic to your offer. This traffic will come from three mayor Social Networks like; 1) Facebook, and 2) Twitter, 3) Web 2.0 sites, and Search Engine Traffic.
You then drive this traffic to a page where you have a report related to the product and or service they are interested in buying and you offer to give that report away. This is extremely important as this will get you started building a list of subscribers which have shown an interest in a particular product and or service. The information you will send to them must be of value and useful. Trust me on this one. You send them crap, and they will opt-out of your newsletter in a New York minute.
After you have these elements in place you have created a “Perpetual Sale Funnel“
This Perpetual Sales Funnel will continue to fill up your sales pipe, and the emails your prospects will start receiving will become your sales team.
Now you must understand that setting this up will take time, and you will have to invest a little bit of money, but you are going into business for yourself after all, and you know that you need to spend money to make money. Except that in this case I will share how to get all you need for the least amount of money upfront.
